Over a four-year period,
the Cork City BTE program
is helping these students
maintain good grades,
acquire internships, apply to
universities, and succeed in
their career aspirations.

of the children.”
Over the full four years, each student is paired with a
Johnson & Johnson company mentor to provide positive

Family members are also
trained on how to support
the program from home.
“Our main goal is to get
the students to stay in school
and to go to university,” says
Jim Murphy, the project
coordinator for the BTE
program in Cork City.
“The mentoring and on-site
visits provide a view of the
industry that can excite the
students and show where
education can take them.”
Once enrolled in
college, BTE students will
receive support to help ease
the transition, including
scholarships, tutoring, networking opportunities,
and help with acquiring internships.
“I am the first from my family to go onto university
studies, which is an honor for me,” says Daniel. “Without
the BTE program, this would not have been possible.” �
